Continuum Estate

The earth tones of Continuum Estate's buildings fade into the rocky red volcanic soil of Pritchard Hill in the Vaca Mountains. Designed by winery architect Howard Backen of Backen & Backen Architecture and built by Grassi, its owners Tim Mondavi and his sister Marcia Mondavi Borger did not want the facility to distract from the panoramic views of Napa Valley. A grove of 100-year-old olive trees known as "Robert's Wood" in honor of their late father obscures the winery's facade. Within the structure, a central light-filled axis divides the space into four separate areas. The facility's design allows for the meticulous care of the fruit and for the family to continue the art of winemaking.
