Progeny

Mt. Veeder AVA's steep and challenging mountain face produces powerful wines due to better drainage and direct sunlight. Progeny Winery sits on 260 acres of its rugged terrain. Signum Architecture and Grassi created a contemporary structure to complement its wine. The design splits into two buildings—one gallery-like space to highlight tastings and entertaining and another private to hold offices. From a distance, the separate rooflines appear to join together. Slim structural posts, interspersed with rusted steel bars salvaged from the vineyards, allow the roofs to float above the concrete walls.
